Setting up your Digital camera on your PC can
be a challenging task. Many newer digital cameras can be
connected to a computer using a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. If you
connect a camera to a USB port, you can access images on the camera just as you
would access images on a hard drive or CD-ROM drive. All digital
cameras come bundled with an application that enables you to view images from
the camera and copy them to your hard disk in JPEG format. In some cases (for
example, if you have only a serial port connection to the camera) this method
may be the only way to transfer images from a camera to the hard disk.
If the camera appears as a drive in Explorer (Windows)
you may also access the images from there and copy them from the
camera or card reader to the hard disk before opening them in Photoshop
Elements. Some cameras store images on a memory card, which you remove
from the camera and insert into a card reader. Card readers are small
external drives that you connect to your computer via a USB port. Most
PC's today have a 2nd available bay where you could install an additional
floppy drive. An add-on flash card reader could also be installed in
this slot. Other cameras enable you to download images to your
computer using a TWAIN driver or Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). (Only
Windows XP and Me support WIA.) There
are endless methods to get your images from your camera onto your computers
hard drive. Call A-1 DFW PC today
